Role Overview 

We seek a highly motivated and organized laboratory technician to coordinate and support critical projects within our organization. This individual will play a pivotal role in driving research applied to biomedical unmet needs primarily in oncology field. The ideal candidate thrives in a start-up environment and has a strong background in nanomedicine within the chemistry or life sciences sector.


Main tasks and responsibilities 

Synthesis of micro- and nanoparticles (inorganic and organic) and support in the synthesis to group members. Support on the sample preparation and characterization by microscopy techniques such as SEM and TEM, DLS, fluorescence microscopy as well as confocal microscopy Lab equipment organization and maintenance, implementing and proposing improvements. Managing the group’s equipment reservation calendars, if applicable. Management of the group’s lab spaces and computers. Ordering reagents and equipment in coordination with other technicians and team members. Responsible for the on-boarding and check-out of group members. Introduction of lab facilities and rules to new members. Train new users in the use of equipment and lab procedures. Contact person between maintenance, security, secretary and other PCB departments such as: IT, Operations and others. Responsible for lab safety.  


Requirements for candidates 

Essential: 

  • Degree in chemistry, nanoscience and nanotechnology, nanomaterials, chemistry biomedical engineering, or similar.
  • Experience as a Lab Technician for at least 2 years.
  • Knowledge in synthesis of nanoparticles inorganic or organic (e.g.: polymeric-based nanoparticles, silica-based, etc) and characterization techniques (e.g: DLS, Z-potential, spectroscopy techniques (UV-vis, fluorescence, FTIR, NMR), and chromatography (HPLC and GPC, etc).
  • Competencies and skills: Communication, Teamwork and collaboration, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking. Problem solving skills and organizational skills in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams. 
  • High level of English. 


Advantageous: 

  • Knowledge in cell culture standard techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with in vivo cancer models.
  • Experience in electronic microscopy (such as SEM, TEM). Background in international, multicultural labs.
